 Shanghai Palace

Can anyone tell me if the Shanghai Palace is still open down by the Pier Head? If no any other suggestions for a top notch restaurant in Chinatown? Thanks.

I do believe the restaurant is still open despite access complications due to construction works to enable the canal link to the Albert dock.

Not sure how this fits in with long term plans for the waterfront as the building looks out of place for my thinking I would much prefer to se an open space

Yes as far as I am aware the Shanghai Palace is still open, My favourite restaurant in China Town is Jumbo City its smaller than shanghai palace btu I like it, its intimate and the food has always been delicious when I have been.

If you want to try somewhere thats got views of the mersey try the Chung Ku which is located on the mersey but further up a little outside the city centre slighlty. I must admit though I have only been once and the food was only so so but that was over christmas time and the restaurant was full to capacity, but the location is fantastic

Thanks Kerry may. We are there late May from Canada & love a good Chinkie. Any recomendations for an awesome Indian? Tried this big fancy one on seal street I think 2 yrs ago, crap & very pricy. There was a great one on Stanley st (I think) for an amazing 5 pound lunch. Is it still there? Cant wait to return to the greatest city in the world.

There is an excellent new Indian one in the Albert Dock, the Spice Lounge, great food and service, unique setting, I recommend it.
