JetBlue is rated as a 4-star airline by Skytrax while Alitalia is only rated as 3-star. http://www.airlinequality.com/Airlines/B6.htm
Hi,
Another item you could look to, which gives you some factual statical basis is the DOT (US Department of Transportation) who publishes airline performance statistics.
Here's the latest report dated September 2010:
http://airconsumer.ost.dot.gov/reports/2010/September/2010SEPTATCR.PDF
There's a lot of data there, but I'd crunch it down to several of the key aspects you're interested in..
A) On-time.. Page 4, the overall delay rate.. JetBlue reported an average of 75.2% on-time performance across all 46 of the stations they serve.. Just slightly worse than the overall industry average of 76.7%
B) Cancellation.. Page 27, the overall rate of cancellation.. JetBlue reported an average of 0.60% cancellation rate.. this is less than half of the industry average of 1.40%..
So, just based on statistics alone, I'd say that they aren't appreciably better nor worse for on-time performance, but do substantially better than average when it comes to avoiding cancellations.
Again, this is from the DOT's data that is compiled and reported out.
Travel Safe,
Concerning the subject of being involuntary bumped from a flight, it is useful to note that jetBlue has a widely-known policy of not doing it. In the current FAA consumer report cited previously, they had none for the period April to June 2010. A few years ago jetBlue went the ENTIRE year with no involuntary denied boardings. This is unheard of in the industry.
great airline, more room between seats, tvs in every seat, Never had any problems with them have used them for nyc to Florida, Mexico, California, and Jamancia.
There is no question JetBlue would be my preferred choice. Just the satellite TV itself is a great feature. It is overall a better experience than any of the major carriers.
Jetblue is a very good airline, I use them often. They are very friendly and punctual. the planes are very modern and clean. If you have a choice travel with them often
Jet Blue is a nice airline. However, be aware that if you have any problems, such as weather or mechanical that cause flights to be cancelled or delayed, Jet Blue will not pay to place you on another airline. You're going to have to wait until space opens up on one of their flights. Usually things are fine, but if there's a problem, you could have a long, long wait as they aren't going to bump booked passengers to make room for displaced ones.
As you can tell from other posts, I LOVE jetblue. In my more than many flights with them, I have NEVER had a problem due to cancellation or weather. Plus, MUCH, MUCH better services than American or Delta. So YES, you can trust them!
I fly JetBlue a lot and love them never had a problem.
