"We were visiting Springfield for a reunion and a group of six went to Obed & Isaac's based on TA reviews. We were not disappointed! The setting is an old mansion only a block from the Lincoln home historical site. The outdoor patio seating was indeed full when we arrived but we were seated immediately in one of the rooms on the first floor of the mansion. The menu was interesting and offered a number of unusual offerings. The wheat beer was very good and went well with the onion rings appetizer. My wife had the "Ponyshoe" (Small Horseshoe) sandwich made with ground sirloin. The open-faced sandwich was dressed with a tasty sauce and it was accompanied by very crispy and tasty French fries.
