"For anyone who has lived in Frankston for decades, this building was always known for the KFC which used to inhabit the space. It now has been reborn as an Argentinian restaurant.
The decor is somewhat rough and tumble - hinting to the gauchos, and the Mexican cuisine also offered on the Menu.

My parents and my sister's family joined me for dinner. Amazingly, the young nieces loved the place - and loved the food. The adults enjoyed their meals. The Mexican food was good - slightly different from the usual Mexican found in Australia, but tasty. The Argentinian food came out in stoneware crocks, and was very yummy.
My only hint of dissatisfaction was from the service. We visited on a Monday night, which was not busy. The establishment was staffed only by the chef and the owner (who was courteous, but not fully interested in actually serving customers).
I would recommend trying this place. The food is quite good. Monday nights offer an all-you-can-eat Mexican deal.

"For a Tuesday night dinner, Ginseng was quite busy.
The car was parked at the rear of the restaurant.
Conveniently, you can walk through the kitchen into the restaurant.
I thought "that's a brave move"! As some kitchens are not renowned for being organised or clean.
The kitchen was ok, just a bi..."t busy.
I shared 3 mains with my friends.
"Supreme Combination" (number 54) about $23, combined pork, beef, chicken, prawns and calamari with vegetables in a nice mild sauce.
It was very tasty and well cooked. Sadly the calamari was tougher than leather.
Otherwise a very good dish that would easily feed one person.
"Szechuan Beef" (number 114) about $22, very tender beef strips in a spicy sauce.
Although it was a little spicy, it was not overly hot or chilli like. Just a slight kick and gave our sharing of mains some variety.
Quite a good dish that can feed one person.
"Special Fried Rice" about $18, the grains of rice were not "gluey" or sticking together, with a slight smoke...

"Don't know what these reviews are on about. Me and my family dined there Monday and we found that the food and service was absolut awesome. I had the eye fillet which was proper steak not the crap they sell across the road. My husband had a house special pizza and his quote was "the best pizza in Me..."lbourne". Both my kids had the chicken parmagiana and chips and they absolut loved it. Service is 5 star style. The staff were very welcoming. Will definely be back to Rugantinos. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants good quality italian food.
