"Lassco is about 4 miles away from where I live so it is handy for me ..but also handy for a stop-off on the M40! Last time I went, a couple of days ago, I met up with some friends who were heading south on the M40 on their way home from Coventry. Situated just off junction 7 (northbound), literall..."y across the road from the slip ..and 5 minutes from junction 8A (southbound Wheatley services).
The building used to be a pub but Lassco have very successfully rejuvinated the site into a very interesting place indeed ..have a mooch around the antiques and architechtural salvage before/after a lovely brunch/lunch. The staff are friendly and chatty, especially chef - she's lovely and so happy to help as well as a cracking cook! Homemade soup for me, risotto and pulled pork sandwich for my friends - our plates were clean and our bellies full by the end. Two of us weakened when rhubard ice-cream was mentioned ..yummy!! "Unusual cafe, great cake. interesting place. Its sells posh junk the sort of stuff thrown away and how sells for a fortune. Fascinating to walk round."
"I searched high and low for somewhere a bit different to take my girlfriend for a surprise birthday treat and stumbled on this wonderful place.
I couldn't believe it when we arrived here and she told me that several years ago she actually worked as a cleaner here!! Just one more of many many unus..."ual coincidences we've experienced.
The day was made for me as the first thing I saw on arrival was a real British built Hot Rod (more like a rat rod actually) parked outside.
The place welcomes dogs and gave us a bowl of water for ours. We sat in the sun by a fountain and had an absolutely delicious risotto and garlic mushrooms.
Our waitress was lovely and had a fine pair of "wipe clean" purple shiny shoes on, which we all chuckled about.
A lovely day, fabulous company, excellent food, and an ice cold Bourton on the Water brewed local Cider or two have created a lovely memory for us both.
Thanks
