"My husband and I have visited The Chewton Glen Hotel on many occasions and as we use Trip Advisor a lot to decide where to eat, I thought I would write a review on this restaurant as it is still our favourite place to go.
You would expect the level of service to be great for a five star hotel howev..."er in the case of this particular hotel, it is more like six stars. The staff make you feel like royalty and nothing is too much trouble. It is not at all a pretentious hotel and the staff are welcoming and sincere.
Now for the food, it has always been outstanding when we have dined there, it is beautifully cooked and prepared to the highest standard. We had the set menu at £25 per head, which is unbelievably inexpensive considering the quality of the food and service. These days you can easily spend £20 a head on an average pub meal so it is worth skipping these and going somewhere special as in this restaurant!

"Great food at a reasonable price, and really friendly staff
Just be aware that they no longer sell alcohol, caught us out but there is a shop opposite to grab a bottle or two. Carry in's are allowed and actually it a lot cheaper."
"We visited the Rising Sun twice on our recent weeks holiday in the New Forest. We wish that we had a local pub like it. They are dog friendly and dogs are allowed in most of the large inside area and outside. When we visited the weather wasn't good enough for us to sit outside so we sat inside the c..."onservatory area which was large and we had the place to ourselves with our dogs. The food was generous portions and there was an option of normal or small sized portions which was good. We also tried the cream tea which was delicious as the scones were homemade and large. It was reasonably priced and nice and relaxing as the staff fussed over the dogs. Some pubs advertise themselves as dog friendly but they make the dogs feel unwelcome if they bark but the Rising Sun staff made everyone feel welcome. We would definitely be regulars if we didn't live 3 hours drive away!
