"Quick lunch on a weekend. Pleasant staff, good décor and food good. Menu a bit limited - a few more choices would have been welcome. On the pricey side for a pub and portions not enormous but just about enough. Recommended."
"After my last visit to a particularly bad gastro pub in Central London, I was relieved to have had a positive experience at The Bell. It's a fairly large gastro pub in a small countryside town. It seemed to me like the place everyone in town goes for a meal, or a pint or two, from 20 to 70 years old..." and everything in between. The menu options are for the most part fairly standard...burgers, steaks, risotto, soup, shrimp with avocado...but they're done well. The service was friendly and the prices reasonable. My only advice to The Bell is to ditch the French horn urinals in the men's room. While of novelty value, they were clearly not very practical, if you know what I mean. Otherwise, highly recommended.

"A last minute booking for Saturday evening but managed to be offered a table below the large room where there was a 21st birthday party but we were warned about that. The two of us had a really nice evening - the food was perfect portion and excellent flavours with just the right gap between course..."s (Salt and Pepper squid, pork belly with potato mash, peas and carrots - nice to have meat and 2 veg. with paying any extra - well done The Bell - have you been listening or was it pure luck?). Had an excellent bottle of red wine - served at a perfect temperature. All in all a very enjoyable evening - especially when the music, despite still being loud, switched to music from the 60's and 70's (suitable for those in their 50's!!). We are local and only live about 50 yards away so feel extremely lucky to have such a wonderful place to eat on our doorstep.
