"While the menu and food and service were great (which are the most important) I couldn't quite get over how bright the dining are was. It makes you feel as though your sharing your dinner date with everyone else that happens to be there. There is a simple way to avoid this... eat in the bar area. ..." "I've visited several times since Old Armory BBQ opened and have enjoyed every meal. This restaurant has a promising future in Decorah, and since I'm a local, I hope to invest here often! The brisket is sometimes a bit dry, but the pulled chicken and pork are great. My favorite are the ribs -- ver..."y, very good for this part of the country and certainly the best ribs in the area. The sides are mouthwatering and worth a trip by themselves. One of my favorites are the sweet potato tater tots -- pure candy! The only shortcoming, from my point of view, are the sauces, which could be much better. In particular, there's a need for a good, spicy sauce that goes well beyond the chipotle. The atmosphere is simple but clean and friendly, and the owner is always grateful to see you.

The proprietor, Tom, who with his wife recently won a historic preservation award for restoring the upstairs windows, delivered the orders: a locally-raised (a choice is presented) beef burger with onion rings; a turkey-bacon sandwich and coleslaw; a cheeseburger and fries; a BLT wrap with fries; a hamburger with fried onions;...
