"First, the Garden Deli Cafe serves more than just sandwiches, and everything's good. There are tasty soups and salads, and brownies. Second, the sandwiches might just be the best you ever have, anywhere. Wonderful bread -- white, wheat, or walnut olive -- baked on the premises daily. (If you're ..."very lucky there might be a loaf left over at the end of the day which you can buy.) The other ingredients are fresh as well, and the sandwiches are huge. (But you can order a half sandwich.) Third, Marie, the manager, is synonymous with "Garden Deli" and she's charming (even when rushed, which is most of the time because the line goes out the door). If you'll only have one sandwich while in beautiful Half Moon Bay, get it at the Garden Deli Cafe. (It's where the locals get lunch.)

"Sam's is good seafood! Period.
Because we had the 4 month old puppy with us, we sat on the deck away from everyone in a corner...which was perfect. (But she ran and ran on the beach earlier and slept through the whole meal anyway.)
We both ordered the chowder...and if people would read the descr..."iption, it clearly says they do not add flour to thicken the soup. If you like chowder that allows your spoon, unaided, to stick straight up out of soup, then don't get it. It won't do it. It is full of large chunks of clams, celery, potatoes and just the right amount of seasoning.
We also ordered an appetizer of the spicy popcorn shrimp...but I was smart enough to ask that the spicy sauce be put on the side...WOW...was it ever hot! And I was glad for a tip dipped in the sauce...even at that, it was way hot. It came with cocktail sauce, but I also asked for tartar sauce. They were crispy, hot and fresh...delicious.
We also ordered the fish and chips...came with french fries and cole ...

"We happened to be driving Highway 1 on Saturday and came upon Sam's at lunch time. We saw all the crowds outside the restaurant and cars parked up and down the street and decided to wait until our way back down highway 1. We arrived about 2:30pm and were told it would be a 25 minute wait. Not mor..."e that 10 minutes went by and our name was called. We were given the choice of an inside or outside table. We chose outside because it was a beautiful day, fairly warm day. They have heaters on the deck which was nice but we really didn't need them. The service was very fast and we were eating chowder within 5 minutes. The fish and chips is excellent with a great light beer batter. Great find, will definitely return.
