On first look, the only vegetarian main courses are pastas (I'm also gluten intolerant).So I played it safe and ordered tomato soup and a house salad. Blaaaa. The soup tasted like pasta sauce. The salad was fine. Lettuce, shredded carrot..."s, beets and a hard boiled egg. Boring but fresh. Then I tasted the quinoa that came with my husband's steak. OMG - it tastes like butter. And there are lovely little veggies chopped up in there. So good. We ordered calafate ice cream for desert. They split it up into two perfectly presented bowls for us. It was unbelievably good. Light, almost like a sorbet, but still somehow creamy. The calafate tasted like a cross between small wild blueberries and acai berries. So we went again the next night. I was "forced" to go by my companions and had one of the best corderos patagonicos ever. It may cater more for tourists (hey, but who else makes it to Calafate?) but not in any ..."kitsch way.
