"We were recommended this restaurant by our tour guide. He said it was the most popular restaurant for locals. We went in and noticed that the staff were dressed in traditional costume and wondered if it was a tourist trap. We looked around and noticed it was fairly busy with locals, we were the only..." English speaking people around. We didn't really have to order from a menu as you could see the actual dish you wanted at the food gallery - like a buffet without the all you can eat part. Staff were attentive but I recommend you bring tissues or ask the staff for it. Food was tasty some things you may not like because you're not used to it but for me I love Chinese food especially from this area and really enjoyed the experience. The best part was the price! It only cost us under $50 Australian dollars to feed 4 people and this included 1 Hairy crab each, 2 dumpling dishes, a whole fish in chilli oil, 3 other dishes, rice and drinks - incredible!

"Nice person and nice food (fresh and cheap) with an English menu. Mr Cheng can come to take you to your hotel and bring you to his restaurant. His wife is cooking, his daughter and mother are all in. Feel in their house, simple and nice atmosphere. Only tree tables. Mr Cheng would give you all the i..."nformation you need about tourism in Huangshan

We ordered the same dish d..."uring our 2 visits. During our first visit we saw a Chinese girl in her twenties finished the whole dish all by herself with a bowl of rice. She also ordered a small side dish.
We tried their other dishes such as the lion's head meat balls which proved too much for 2 persons and some vegetables. The dishes were a bit saltish on their own but when we ate them with rice, they tasted alright.
The restaurant was packed during the weekend we were there but our guide told us to go early to avoid the queues. There were few empty tables when we arrived before 6pm. We decided to sit on the ground floor as the upper floor had bigger tables for large groups of diners and we saw many were smoking...
