"Since we are Belgians ourselves we knew what we could expect from a Belgian restaurant. Though we do not like to fraternize with our countrymen abroad 'chez Chantal' came highly recommended by expats and since we had some horrible eating experiences in the New Marina we thought we could at least try..." this Belgian female chef. Chantal welcomed us ourselves, shared a drink with us and told us a bit of her life. The place by that time was packed full. The chef was needed in the open kitchen. We enjoyed a nice view of the harbor while we waited for our food to arrive. The shrimp cocktail was large and very tasty. No need to start looking for the shrimp, because there were enough. On the other side of the table a platter of fried calamares and an Australian steak with french fries was very much appreciated. "Spent a week in Gouna and Chez Chantal was suggested by a LOT of friends to visit. After I was done, I am not regretting the visit, it was worth it BIG time. Food quality is not delicious.. It is OUT of this world. I tried the smoked salmon (best I tried within Egyptians borders), Lobster with veggi..."es and white rice after was far beyond explaining or putting the taste into words.
Cost per person is VERY fair vs. the quality you are getting, when you are done with the food, there is an open air area where you can have your Shisha, dessert or just sit out there and relax enjoying the AWESOME refreshing breeze around 10 PM.
Bottom line is, if you are staying or just visiting Gouna, this is a MUST visit.
P.S.: Tip from a single male, if you are planing to propose, get your rings and do it while sitting on the terrace in the open air area after dinner.Thank me later ;-)
