"One of the joys of travel and embracing each countries cuisine is the surprises you get when you order something that you aren't 100% sure that you know what it is. My spanish is good enough for me to read the description of the menu and take a wild guess and what the dish is. Occasionally I come ac..."ross a menu item that is out of my vocabulary. In times like these I always choose to let my adventurous side out and if the waiter tells me that it's an excellent choice I'll agree to it.
While visiting Viña del Mar in Chile, i came across a word in spanish that was foreign to me....congrio. But at the waiter's enthusiastic recommendation combined with my taste for the unknown, I agreed to give my tastebuds their first gamble with "Caldillo de congrio"

"I don't say this very often but this is one place that makes me WANT to tip. I tried alot of places in Viña del Mar but this is the place I went to twice and it was two days in a row!!! I tried their seabass the first time and the 2nd time tried the clams with parmesan and pasta with seafood. All I..." can say is that my tastebuds know simple honest cooking when it comes across it. Simple honest cooking that doesn't try to be anything other than what it was meant to be. Nothing was too try or overcooked or undercooked. The owners loved to chat and they always made sure I had everything I need even if it was something as little as a few more serviettes. Not only are they proud of their dishes and stand by them but it is obvious to me that these people know seafood. This little place is an oasis in a sea of restaurants that only think they know seafood.....

"Los Pomairinos is a good tipical restaurant. Didn't eat fish, but Pastel de Choclo is delicious and it
is for two people.
The place is simple, but comfortable and the prices are fair. The attendants are nice and friendly.
The service runs well and while you wait, you can drink a good wine.
If yo..."u choose a place on the second floor you will have a good view of the beaches.
