"I lived in the Middle East for two years. I so missed the food until yesterday. Baalbek is wonderful. The falafel is terrific-best or maybe better than I had in Cairo. Babaganoush Is
to die for. Don't miss finishing the meal with cardamom coffee. Serv ice was excellent and entire staff very ..."friendly. This is my new best place to eat in Quito.

"For most gringos, the name of the game is cheap, but every once in a while you need to splurge a little. (If you can call $70 a splurge). We found the food to be fresh & well prepared. We enjoyed the amuse bouche, appetizers, main, dessert and a lovely bottle of Argentinian wine, all for a third (o..."r less) of what it would cost us back home. The restaurant is well situated to watch the world go by as you enjoy your meal.

"Despite owning a cafe myself in Colonial Quito...when I need a fine dining experience....Mea Culpa is it. Based out of the old Archbishops "sala" in his former Palace...the decor and ambiance cannot be surpased in Quito. The view over the Plaza (you can even get a table by the balcony) is picturesqu..."e and the decor is a cross between ab Old English Country Squire house and an apartment for a Cardinal in the Vatican. it reminds me of the old restaurant at the Plaza Hotel in New York....
The food should not leave even the most renound restaurant critic dissapointed.....a complete international menu. We brought our tour group here and Mea Culpa caters to large private groups. It is not expensive by Quito standards and well worth the experience if you are in Colonial Quito.
