"When the locals point across the harbour and Irriki Island and tell you the restaurant is past the main shipping wharf, your mind begins to wonder.
We got a bus to take us out to the restaurant just to ease our concerns and sure enough, there was this beautiful building down a dirt track, positio..."ned perfectly on the waters edge. We made a booking for 5 oçlock and went back to the resort to prepare.
We were able to cjoose our table right on thewater's edge and have a glass of bubbles as the sun set - albeit covered by some cloud.
The menu and wine lists whilst not extensive, provides all tastes with qulaity options. You will pay metro Oz quality restaurant prices - our night at Elan was a memorable meal.
Your host/chef and hostess do not get holidays so I'm sure they will look forward to a cordial introduction to thier fine restaurant on your visist to Port Vila..
This is a must do............

"Eating our way thru the Top 5 Tripadvisor restaurants in Port Vila, our last night was spent at the Jardin des Saveurs.
The decor is is picture perfect Black & White and the staff outfitted the same. I know that Port Vila is a tourist town but surely local expats ( even rich ones) should know whe..."n it is approriate to foresake "the thongs" in such a qulaity restaurant.
I feel better after that...........we made sure we enjoyed some bubbles whilst we feasted thru the menu with our hungrey eyes. We amde sure that we ordered food that we had not tried before or had been a long time ago.. The garlic frogs legs fell into the later category but local seafood with french sauces were devoured with relish!
The chef uses high qulaity local produce and presnts it with flair. We dined on Sunday night, so the weekends quota of lobstor and duck had been depleted which was to our disppointment.
I'm sure that this restaurant will hold a candle to Elan when it comes to food but it trails ...

"Decided to eat lunchat the Chill for Saturday lunch at the suggestion of a expat on the local bus. The lunch menu is effective and quite reasonable obviously: because most patrons were ordering from it
Not beeing the most adventurous visitors to Vanuatu, we prefer good food, wine and a liesurely..." stroll, so we ditched the lunch menu and attacked the Tapas on the A La carte list. We started with the trio of dips which were full of flavour and was perefectly suited to our NZ Sav Blanc. Having ploughed thru the small amount of turkish bread ( almost deep fried - superb) we requested some more bread ( at a cost) but were given another plate of the same course.
Unfortuneaely, it was just too good to resist and was cleaned out by the time our 3 x tapas courses arrived. We were just able to do justice to these fine illustrations of gourment food. The salmon, cheese spread & dill wrap was the richest thing I ate in Vila.
Unless you want a good lunch to quench the hunger - I think thi...
