"I saw this place on a recent Anthony Bourdain show on Colombia, and recognized it when we were in that area of Bogota. It is near Plaza Bolivar and the government buildings, so they get a lot of people who work in the area stopping in for a mid-day tamal and chocolate. In Colombia, the traditional..." way hot chocolate is served includes a wedge of cheese that you put into your chocolate to melt, plus an almojabana (a small cornmeal and cheese bread roll).
My tamal and chocolate were very good here and it was fun to eat inside a restaurant that has been there for so long. My understanding was that it is called La Puerta Falsa (False Door) because Simon Bolivar had escaped through it from the prison when it was a false door. This is an area rich with history.
This area is also fairly close to Monserrate and the Museo de Oro. And if you want to shop for emeralds, there are a number of reputable shops near La Puerta Falsa. I do not know any one particular name, but I know tha...

"Let's be clear, this is a Pub, not a "Bar and Grill". You won't find a massively thick menu that looks like it came from The Cheesecake Factory, waitresses wearing their mandated 15 pieces of flair, or a dessert tray. But what you will find is a huge surprise in the middle of Bogota.

When in town for a 7 day stay I often eat here 4-5 days with my personal favorites being the Fish and Chips - best I've had outside of the UK - and the Stir Fry (they call it a Wok) with egg. Bartenders are universally good with English and waitresses passable and will grab someone if they need help understanding you. Lunch special, different each day, is also good on the rare weekday when I don't have to go into the office.
In-house produced beers are excellent and I've turned man...

"Just had lunch there with my husband and can say it was actually quite delish. Didn't know what to expect walking in and the menu was a tad overwhelming but everything is broken down for you on the menu. I had the Thai Salad and it was really good. Crispy onions topped my fresh, whole leafed, salad ..."and dices of veggies throughout. I didn't really care for the meat it came with but I'm picky with the meat I eat. I stay away from processed meats when possible so...
My husband had some kind of crepe dish and he enjoyed it.
The service was great except they kept trying to push appetizers and desserts on us and seemed disappointed when we said no :I
Oh, and: I watched one of the waitresses take a basket of bread from a table that left, give it to our waitress and our waitress then gave us the hand-me-down bread basket. We didn't really care as it looked untouched but this might not fly others.
