"Really delicious food and some terrific wines by the glass at low (for the US) prices. I was happily surprised that despite the star, this wasn't at all a stuffy place. Aperitifs and the amuse-bouche were served upstairs in a rather austerely decorated lounge with comfortable easy chairs overlooking..." the Loire (admittedly the crowd outside on the river bank enjoying the late summer dusk wasn't a particularly refined one). Quiet, thankfully no music, and only half full when I visited on a Saturday in June. You definitely should order three courses plus dessert or cheese because the portions are small. I skipped the dessert in favor of the enormous selection of cheeses. If I had any complaint it was the absence of any regional focus. Neither the haddock nor the truffles nor the lobster I had were even from France, and not all the cheeses. There was only one local wine by the glass, a Sancerre. Coming from New York where fashionable restaurants are now absurdly "locavore", I was suprised. ...
