"Taken to this traditional local public house by friends whilst visiting the Lake District recently. Landlady & landlord, Amy & Andy, gave us a very warm welcome, making us feel at home and comfortable very quickly. My steak meal was cooked to perfection, the best and most succulent steak I've had i..."n a very long time, and my partners vegetarian pasta meal was full of flavour and freshly prepared. For such good quality locally sourced food the prices are extremely good value, and worth every penny. Amy was attentive to our needs, checking regularly if all was okay and keeping us topped up with drinks, and went out of her way to wish us a good night on leaving, an extremely nice touch which meant a great deal to both of us. If you appreciate good quality well prepared food, coupled with good ales and a friendly welcome be sure to head off the beaten track and pay the Clickham Inn a visit during your stay in the Lakes. "Gorgeous pub with bags of personality - and wonderful menu full of locally sourced food (this is not pub food it is high end cooking). I liked the look of Bloody Mary oysters on the seafood starter platter but didn't fancy the platter - so they let me have Bloody Mary oyster as an amuse bouche. It w..."as lovely except it was Virgin Mary not bloody - and I like my vodka. But i let hat go as they'd been very kind to let me have it at all. The starter was twice baked cheese soufflé - it was divine. And for main had the duck cooked two ways - confit leg, pink roast breast - again perfectly cooked. Good wine list starting from about £20. Good Alamos Pinot Noir for £27. We were so full we couldn't manage dessert- but instead had drinks in the very cosy bar. They tell you where they source everything and they clearly know and care about food. A great find.
