My family and I had a nice lunch at this restaurant while visiting Savan. The food was quite good and very reasonably priced. They were extremely understanding with our 8 month old daughter. We watched a thunderstorm roll in while enjoying the views of Thailand from across the Mekong. Might not be the fanciest place, but certainly was the best... More

We enjoyed the food (red curry chicken, stir fried morning glory, stir fried vegies) and the setting by the Mekong. We recommend.

The Lao Derm is a floating bamboo structure and also has small boats that you can hire to have your food & drinks on whilst going upriver (with a driver). The restaurant opened in 2008 and is a copy of its sister restaurant on the Nam Ngum river near Vientiane. Good menu with lao favourites laap, grilled fish with bun... More

Savan Lao Deam is a large floating restaurant on the banks of the Mekong near the centre of Savannakhet. You get to it by walking down the jetty and across a pontoon. It was bitterly cold by Lao standards (around 15 C) when we were there and the staff were wearing arctic gear but in spite of that they were... More
