My husband, 3-year-old son, and I had dinner here a few nights ago and had a thoroughly wonderful time. We've been travelling in Northern Italy for nearly 3 weeks and are tiring a bit of meals out with somewhat similar menus. Our experience here stood out both in terms of the quality of the food and the genuine warmth of... More

Taverna di Moranda is a charming place. The owner/chef and the sweet lady who helps serve are simply delightful. The restaurant itself gets rave reviews from very worldly diners I encountered during my stay in Tuscany, and maybe that's where the problem lies for me. I like good food, especially good Italian food, but I'm not a gourmet. Taverna di... More

We have eated there 5 nights during our stay at Montichiello. Thus tasted practically all the dishes in the menu. Everything is of an excellent taste, bravissimo! I liked lasagne with artishokes and breast of duck the most, pork and lamb were also extremely tasty. Don't hesitate to ask staff of smth you don't see in the menu. I have... More

A cozy room with vaulted ceilings a few yards from the medieval gates of this hill town. Treated as if we were family by our waitress/hostess. Service warm and flawless. Food truly excellent from the ricotta filled ravioli with truffles, "bundle" with pecorino, pear, walnuts and honey to our suckling pig chops and desert. Good, well priced wine list including... Delicious food, good service, and kind service attitute. I am a tourist from Taiwan. I stayed in Monticchiello for two nights, and I visited here twice. The first night I choose the florentine steak and mushroom spaghetti, it was wonderful, The second night I change my order, but it's awesome as well. Compare to the food in Rome, I finally... More

we relied on the promising reviews, but here's our bitter truth: the waitress (most likely the wife of the boss) wasn't very enthusiastic at work instead of a medium-rare steak i got a well done one (plus it tasted like the use-before date already passed) the noodles (pici) were ok, but just simple noodles, not more and it seemes the... We ate at Taverna di Moranda once in May 2011. I wish we had gone there more, but I had been besotted by the publicity for "la Porta", and ate there three times for dinner. Taverna di Moranda was a better restaurant for us. The food at both places was wonderful - the dream of Tuscan dining. But Taverna di... More

La Taverna di Moranda is a consistently fantastic restaurant. It is located in the tiny borgo of Monticchiello not far from Pienza. If you are traveling in the Val D'Orcia area, this restaurant is not to be missed and is worth a bit of a drive. My husband and I are americans living in Siena. We have eaten at La... More

We have eaten in many restaurants in this area of Tuscany over the years. Taverna di Moranda is unequaled. The traditional ingredients are used but the preparations are unique resulting in a much more refined menu. Massimo is a true artist in the kitchen creating memorable meals such as fresh baked goat cheese rolled in chopped hazelnuts on a bed... More
