George & Jackie Barbour decided some 30 years ago to convert the cave into this unique restaurant. All is exactly as discovered except the chamber housing the kitchen and lavatories. In the restaurant only the stone floor has been added together with furniture and fittings, lighting and sound effects. The natural holes in the roof crust are open to the... More

This is unique and having gone for dinner, which was very good, we would have regretted not going. If on Diani beach make this part of your holiday.

We visited Ali Barbers in June 2013 while we were staying at the Baobab Beach resort along the road, the restaurant provided a free shuttle bus to and from our hotel which was a nice touch. The restaurant itself is in a fantastic location, open to the elements at the top and tables set in to the nooks and crannies... More

Unbelievable setting. You walk down into a coral cave, thousands of years old. Well presented lighting, very romantic. Open sky. A once-in-a-lifetime dining experience. Excellent wine list. Definitely recommend the seafood. Catch of the day for us was tuna, and it was fantastic. Would have given 5-stars but for the price and the beef-stroganoff was average at best. Recommend for... As always, this is a great place for a special night out. Food was good, drinks festive. But it's the service that set it apart - Esther was our waiter, and she was truly outstanding. Love the pickup from our house, too.

As you enter this restaurant the atmosphere changes dramatically, from being at a relaxed beach resort area, to an exclusive 5 star one in a million cave. It's magnificent! Perfectly presented as you descend down the enclosed staircase into the bar with amazing lighting on the ragged cave walls and huge candlaberas lead your eyes up to the gaping open... More

Me and my partner were recommended this place by our rep and some other people on the holiday and we are so glad we went. As soon as you walk into the restaurant it feels special. It is absolutely stunning with little lights placed in all of the crevasses of the cave to create a lovely ambience. The food was... More

Im surprised by the previous poor reviews because we found this place exceptionally fantastic. It was pricey, but we ended up coming back a second night just to share the glorious seafood platter again. Service was attentive, drinks were taisty and the seafood really well prepared. I especially loved the crab, but everything (including the dipping sauces) were very tasty.... More
