I think they changed owners, food was top the year before last. I went there twice in 2011 and the quality of the food was just ok, very expensive for what you get.Do try it out though, if you haven't been there before 2011 then maybe it's what you are looking for. More

This restaurant had the best menu on the Lido and the food was delicious. The rest of the restaurants seem very touristy, which is why we liked Lo Scalo. Go enjoy some Gnocci with wild boar ragu! More

Lo Scalo is a smart sophistocated restaurant on the lakeside promenade of the town and makes a welcome change from the other "tourist menu" restaurants alongside. We had both the tasting menu and on another occasion chose from the a la carte menu. Both times the food was excellent, beautifully presented and of first class quality. The wind list was... More

We enjoyed the tasting menu at Lo scalo. Nothing could be faulted with any of the food and some combinations were just superb: guinea fowl terrine, coriander cured salmon. Great wine list and if you are stretching the budget, go for the Rossj Bass chardonnay. Waterfront setting on Lake Maggiore is lovely but also tends to lack of real intimacy.... More

Lo Scalo sits among a string of perfectly acceptable harbourside tourist restaurants but is head and shoulder above the rest. Someone back there can really cook! This is fine dining where you'd least expect it. The ravioli was a big hit with my wife; I enjoyed the rice dish, the rabbit and surprisingly the gnocchi which was a delight, nothing... More

On a recent visit to Cannobio we visited Lo Scalo for lunch on the advice of friends who had eaten there a few times. We had travelled by ferry from Baveno via Intra in order to eat at Lo Scalo. We were delighted with the hospitable welcome, the warmth of service and the outstanding quality of the food which was... More

We are seasoned travelers and during a six day stay visit to Cannobio we decided to try Lo Scalo. We were told it was the most expensive in town and after many great experiences with other establishments, we gave it a try. What a mistake. The Maitre'd/waiter, was insulting and condescending when we asked for assistance with the menu and... More
