This was indeed a different place to visit. It is right in the middle of Italy's culture. We had wine, ham and cheese. The people were very friendly, and we even bought some excellent wine to bring home. We went during Winter, so we were the only ones there, which made the place even better just for us! Just one... I attended a wine tasting at this quirky place and developed a sense of what Italian wine is about thanks to the encyclopaedic knowledge of Joost. A hidden gem in a wonderful location with welcoming hosts and wine to be savoured. More

A wine bar rather than a restaurant, this gem of a place lies just off the main road and offers a vast array of high quality wines, superb hosts and for the peckish wonderful plates of meats and cheeses. Do not visit Tremezzo without making the effort to find Cantina Follie - it will be well worth it!! More

The service was fantastic, plenty of English for those of us ignorant of any Italian and the food and wine was outstanding. More

The cantina follie is a hidden gem. We were made to feel so welcome here. I would stronlgy recommend a visit. But we will never be able to thank Joost enough for all his help on the day of our wedding. Coming from England and not speaking Italian was proving diffcult to organise things. Joost saved the day !!! He... More

Visualize sitting outside, at candle lit tables, under a canopy of grape vines, drinking great local and regional wines, while snacking on cheeses, meats, and bread (all at a very fair price). No matter how great the vision is in your mind.... it's better at this out of the way gem. Joost, your host and the owner, has every reason... More

Great wines, perfect ambiance and wonderful owners. A charming and quintessential place for tastings of regional vino, formaggi e prosciutto. And quite romantic too! More

Lovely collection of cold meats and local cheeses washed down with some nice wine. We sat below a grape vine canopy and followed up with a panna cotta covered in wild bilberries yum! More

We enjoyed our evening at Cantina Follie, drinking wines by the glass and eating cured meat, cheese, and little tranches of pizza. But this is not really a restaurant. While it's a great wine bar that would be nice for an aperitif and appetizer, I can't imagine making a dinner out of prosciutto and cheese. The pizza was average (for... More

At the top of one of the several short flights of steps leading up the steep hill from the main road along Tremezzo's lovely waterfront - look for a barrel with ornamental lights - this is a fantastic find for anyone interested in Italian wine, but also a great place to escape the bustle below, and just chill out on...
