My son lives in Honolulu so it was high on his list to take me to ONO Hawaiian Foods. We ate an early supper there -- about 4:30 -- there was no line though there were several other tables of diners. The restaurant is a simple one room location with an equally simple menu. We ordered one of the combination... More

If you want real, authentic Hawaiian fare - This is the place to go. Come hungry, you won't be disappointed! I had the pork lau lau (pork steamed in taro leaves) which came with your choice of rice or poi (mashed taro root), lomi salmon (raw, salted salmon and tomato salad) cured beef, and haupia (coconut pudding) I couldn't get enough... I noticed a few other reviews commenting about cleanliness, but really, it wasn't that bad, but this is more in the catergory of "great local dive" then anything else. We think the "grandma" of the restruant who usually cooks served us...simply explaining each little dish she put in front of us. My husband and I loved the authentic experience, but... More

You must go to Ono. There may be a wait - but the food is delicious. Everything on the menu is excellent!

I thought this was ok. The restaurant seems really homestyle. It doesn't look the cleanest, honestly. But, the people I was with said it was really authentic homestyle hawaiian that your aunt would make or something. I thought the pork needed flavor/salt. I don't think I'd go back. Too dingy for my taste. Makes you wonder what it looks like... More

We had been recommended to go to Ono by a worker of a cruise boat at a 5 star hotel not far away. We pulled up to the curb, put money in the meter, turned walking to the restaurant and the owner was at the door welcoming us in. We were seated and obviously looked like tourists. The wonderful elderly... More

The first time we went to Hawaii in 1989, we were dismayed by the lines of tourists waiting in line to get into the Sizzler and even the Woolworths lunch counter! We were looking for authentic Hawaiin food, and I can't remember how we came upon Ono's, but it's a must do everytime we're back in Waikiki. If you can... More

We were told to go to ONO if we wanted to try some authentic Hawaiian Food. We were delighted with the experience and the price was excellent. On the advice of our greeter/host/waiter we ordered the combination plate that included a Chicken Lau Lau. (Chicken cooked in Taro leaf) There was more than enough food for two of us and... More
