After reading reviews for a long time we decided to give this place a go as one of the most expensive (or so we thought) restaurants in Honolulu. Getting there isn't too bad, you just have to deal with the traffic and parking is just whatever you find on the street as far as I could tell. Upon arrival our... More

If I could give a restaurant 6 stars, Sushi Sasabune certainly deserves it. In fact we plan to make a side trip to Waikiki when we visit Hawaii again JUST to eat here. The food was unbelievable and comparable to Sushi Dai at the Tsujiki Fish market in Tokyo. For those who don't know, thats THE place to eat at... More

Even though it shares the same name, it isn't related to the one in LA, although, according to our waiter, the chefs have worked together before. It was definitely great food. It is a small and cozy restaurant, so make sure you have a reservation. If you have a young child, don't expect a booster seat or high chair. However,... More

Yes the service is average at best and the staff is a bit snotty but who cares. Just take their advice and eat the food the way they want you to! The sushi is like nothing I've ever had anywhere else. Don't be fooled if you've been to their LA or NYC location. This one is not the same. The... More

My partner and I went here twice during our last stay in Waikiki as we loved it so much. Both times we reserved a table in advance and had the a la carte menu. It's a very small restaurant so best to reserve. We've been to some very high end sushi restaurants in other citites and this by far is... More

Easily the best sushi we've ever had and we have eaten sushi most everywhere. An amazing and memorable meal. Forget ordering from the menu. Let them bring the days freshest seafood and tell you how to season it.

It's a car payment, but if you like sushi, you'll love Sasabune. Only the purist would reject the warm rice/cold fish method, which apparently is anathema to Japanese palates. Works fine for me and most other locals. It’s all sushi and no rolls. You occasionally will see celebrities dining and hiding in the darker corners of the bar, since the... More

While vacationing in Waikiki, my wife and I dined at Sushi Sasabune as a birthday treat for her. We have had sushi in many places - from high end restaurants in Japan to the most basic - and we were not disappointed here. To repeat what others have said, "melt in your mouth" is so true. You must sit at... More

Expensive but well worth it...the quality of food and the experience is first rate. Cell phone use during the meal is not allowed. Sit at the bar if you get the chance. Just sit there, let the chef prepare what sushi he wants, eat it, chase with your sake and enjoy life. It's one of those meals where it is... More

The ambiance feels like you stepped out if hawaii and into Japan as you are greeted by the Samurai costume when walking in the door. The seating is punctual. The service is timely. The food is exotic, flavorful and refined. The chefs are sweet as they patiently explain both the art of eating Japanese food and the background of the... More
