Scales is a family favorite in Newport. The food is high quality and it never disappoints! Only negatives are no reservations and cash only but they are definitely worth the wait!

The food was very good. Nothing fancy about decor. They are trying to serve excellent food in an open and accessible feel. Truly tried to please and accomodate our desires of what we wanted not on the menu.....only problem is that they do not serve potatoes, which I love, only fries....definitely would eat there again. Not a tourist trap.

Wood grilled lobster ...... yummy! If you like lobster, you MUST eat here ..... lobster, cut in half long ways, brushed with herbed butter and cooked perfectly on a wood fired grill. Served with butter and a choice of sides. A bargain at $31.00

I agree with other reviewers that it is difficult to read the menu on the blackboard, but we just got up and walked over there. Food was fresh and tasty, service friendly.

Excellent staff. The rest was not. Ordering from a blackboard is not our idea of how to order in an expensive restaurant. The place was so noisy it was hard to hear anyone speak to you.
