Amazing restaurant right on the water! We sat outside on the back patio (it was covered) for dinner. We had a perfect view of the sunset while enjoying a fantastic meal. The bag of doughnuts are to die for! I will definitely be back next time I am in town!

We went to The Mooring for dinner and it was absolutely wonderful. Our waiter presented us with an electronic tablet so we could place our own beverage orders. Never have seen that before in a restaurant, but it worked well. Our drinks came within minutes after ordering them. After taking our dinner orders, the waiter brought over a paper bag... More

Based on the reviews of others, we tried the bag of doughnuts and they were delicious. They are served warm in a small brown paper bag and contain bits of shrimp, lobster and crab in a doughy fritter. Delicious. We enjoyed a simple dinner of fish and chips along with a red pepper slaw. Everything was hot and tasty. One... More

One of the best dinner decisions we made while in Newport! Restaurant itself is lovely and inviting. Plenty of staff who take great care of customers. Food was delicious. The best part of the night was when my husband discovered that they had bag of donuts on their menu! Living in the south, I'd never heard of them...but my northerner... More

I've been going to the Mooring for several years now and have had some great meals there. Unfortunately, this year the food has been very uneven - especially the scallop chowder which, in prior years, was sublime! On a visit earlier this year, the scallop chowder was gloppy from too much cornstarch (poor man's "thick" chowder) and this weekend the... More

We were a group of ten that they seated and handled with no problem. We did have the reservation a couple of months ahead which I am sure helped. Every seafood dish that was ordered was excellent. The scallop chowder was the best I have had. The drink menu is on an iPad. Nice for easy updating but the waiter... More

We ventured in here with a friend that lives in Newport and we were not disappointed. I had the salad with salmon, lobster and shrimp and it was perfect. You must get the donuts to start off with. They are like hushpuppies with lobster in the middle. I would highly recommend the drinks at this place and make sure you... More

Our first seafood experience in Newport was not very good, so the next time we went there, I asked a coworker for recommendations. Apparently Mooring is a favorite among Rhode Islanders and a place you would go for fine dining. The first time we went there, we understood why it is a favorite. After a year and a half of... More

Had an great meal at the Mooring the other night. Food was outstanding as was the service! Yes the prices are moderate but the quality is worth it. I had the George's Bank scallops and my wife had the Uptown salad, both were excellent. We had the bag of donuts which is also a must get. We go to Newport... More
