Had dinner last night at el Meson. The food was wonderful (had the mixed grill) and a very nice spanish wine. Mackenzie, our server, was very helpful with wine selection and was a delight. Friendly and very attentive. After dinner we moved in to the bar to listen to some great jazz. Michael, the bartender, remembered us from the prior... More

We went on Tango Tuesday without knowing what we were in for. We only wanted tapas and drinks so we elected to sit at a table in the bar. It was probably about 7:30 when we arrived and there were perhaps only two other tables occupied. By the time we ordered drinks people had started to arrive carrying small bags... More

This restaurant offers seating in the main dining room where the full menu including paella, entrees and tapas are served. It also features seating in the bar where you can enjoy their tapas menu and listen to excellent live music. The night we went we took this option and enjoyed a wonderful sampling of tapas and heard a great jazz... More

El Meson is just off the plaza in Santa Fe and what a great place this is. We enjoyed excellent wine and great bar service at their wine bar. They even had a Spanish guitarist playing. The setting was very romantic. For dinner you have a choice of full servings or a very good variety of tapas and specials. We... More

Chef and owner David Huertas has put together an amazing menu with authentic Spanish dishes. Every time we go we order something different and we have yet to be disappointed. As a vegetarian, it is pretty difficult to find outstanding vegetarian dishes, but Chef David has some that are absolutely amazing. My husband's favorite is the ribeye steak which he... More

We ate here twice on a recent trip to Santa Fe. ( Yes, it really is good enough to use our limited dinner slots to go there twice in one trip.) El Meson offers numerous choices on the menu, but we tend to focus the evening on Tapas only or light tapas followed by their paella. Both possibilities are excellent... More

The hostess found us two "side bar" seats on a busy Friday night where we sipped sangria and enjoyed a great light jazz combo while ordering from a large selection of tapas that were organized by type (veggie, meat, seafood, etc.). Each of us had a different salad - mine was the special of the day - and we shared... More

The ahi tuna tapas and the jamon tapas we had was excellent. The Valencia paella was also excellent. The restaurant also has an outstanding selection of Spanish wines and the Rioja that was recommended to us was perhaps the best I have had. Overall a very good experience. The only thing that I would improve was that the restaurant was... More

Went to El Mason on Tango Tuesday looking for a light dinner. Great service and wonderful tapas. Stuffed artichokes were to die for and don't miss the eggplant fries. Sangria was delicious. Will definitely go back.

Tapas can sometimes be such tiny, overpriced portions. But not at El Meson. You get just enough to share, or 2-3 small plates is enough for one person. And the food is very good and reasonably priced in a nice southwestern atmosphered. On Friday nights there is free jazz. A real bargain!
