I went there because of the good reviews. Boy, was I ever disappointed. When I ordered the enchilada platter, I didn't expect only one small open-faced enchilada accompanied by a meager helping of hominy and rice. I wondered how they could call that a cheese enchilada with such a small amount of cheese, and noting much else besides the tortillas.

Our first venture into this trip's Santa Fe cuisine was at La Choza. We wanted a simple, uncomplicated meal of Southwestern Mexican food, and we got it. I must admit to being a hot food junkie. I absolutely love hot food, and the hotter the better. I ordered chili con carne, and asked the waiter to tell the chef to... More

WORTH FINDING! Be sure to make reservations, even on a weeknight. Delicious green and red chili (order "Christmas" so you can try both). Everything we ate was delicious. Even Urban Spoon says this place is terrific. Lots of locals there (which says a lot). Friendly, funky, and worth visiting. The local Santa Fe Reporter rates restaurants every year and this... More

Since we had a discount coupon, we decided to try La Choza while visiting Santa Fe. It was good that we had reservations as there was a long waiting list on a Tuesday evening at 7:00. The dining area was packed and noisy with several large groups. Décor is typical New Mexican. Locals appeared to be in the majority. Our... More

Nothing I ate (I ordered the trio) knocked my socks off, but this restaurant is extremely enjoyable. And when they offer a discount through restaurant.com, the value is excellent. Drink prices seemed excessive, however. My daughter raved about the fish tacos, so perhaps you should try that. A bit odd that there's a charge for chips and salsa, especially since... More

This was a busy little place that our guide book recommended. It was a mix of locals and tourists. We were told our wait would be 45 min, which was fine by us, but the hostess just seemed very confused and incompetent (on our own walk-through during the hour wait, there were multiple tables that were free). I ordered the... More

We ate at La Choza last evening, one of our favorite places in Santa Fe. It's owned by the people who own the Shed, which just won a major award, and was opened back in the '80s because locals could never get into the Shed because of all the tourists. It's always been one of our favorite places. We were... More

I actually found a Restaurant.com certificate for this restaurant so didn't really have super high hopes but was pleasantly surprised! We had a short wait for lunch which was so worth it. We started with the chips and dip trio - great salsa, queso (spicy and good) and cool guacamole! My friend has the Frito Pie which was delightful and... More

Consistent and delicious they have a parallel to the shed, their sister restaurant. I had the best margarita at the shed , with its close duplicate at La choza. We njoyed all the food, and the atmosphere without the wait time of the shed. Great tacos. La Choza or the Shed , they are both gems in Santa Fe.
