We stayed at the Grand Hyatt hotel in San Antonio for a convention. We asked at the front desk "where is a good place for breakfast away from the hotel"? He recommended The Guenther House. Well, seeing that my Dad who just passed away 2 months prior was named Guenther, we were definitely going. We drove about 2 miles and... More

We were on a business trip and made the effort to visit the Guenther House. The seating out back was comfortable and there are a few resident ducks. My friend had the pancakes and said they were the best ever. I had the Waffel special with blackberries and served with hot syrup that just soaks into it. It was teriffic.... More

Our hotel recommended this historical restaurant as the only place we were likely to find late brunch on Sunday. Many other hotels must do the same, as the wait was 2 hours. Rather than wait, we ordered pancakes to go and got them and accompanying strawberry, grapes, and orange slice in a plastic to-go box and enjoyed them at patio... More

You can sit outside or in either way the scenery adds to the great food being served. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and these were some of the best biscuits and gravy I ever had. This is a definite must if you are in San Antonio

Don't go here looking for a great meal or when you are hungry because you will wait and be disappointed by the menu-- it's all about the waffles and biscuits here & it's pretty hard to mess that up! The restaurant is in a beautiful old historic home on the river which is lovely but if you are a foodie... More

The Guenther House is, indeed, an old house and is set in the leafy grounds of a 1900s industrial complex, adjacent to the San Antonio River. From the downtown hotels, you can walk along the San Antonio River and enjoy the King William District and other picturesque homes and buildings. You may have to wait for a table but touring... More

We decided to go on a whim and are glad we did. had heard how good breakfast was but went for lunch. dh and I both got the special which was a bread bowl scooped out and filled with a tomato covered with a generous serving of roast beef covered with cheese. It came with fresh... More

I'm not sure the reviews would be as wonderful if the restaurant were situated in a different location. The restaurant is located in the old Guenther mansion in the King William district along the banks of the San Antonio Riverwalk. Beautiful---especially at Christmas. Go as early as you possibly can – even on weekdays – to avoid a 45 to... More

Built in 1860, the Guenther House was built by founder of San Antonio’s Pioneer Flour Mill.. The restaurant is primarily a wing built in 1917 as a tea room for the Guenther family. The food was excellent and prices are reasonable. Huge cinnamon rolls are a breakfast feature. The service was exceptional. A small store located in an other part... More
