Passage to India has a lot going for it: little to no competition, a fantastic downtown location, an extensive menu, and ample room. All of these things wouldn't matter, however, if the quality of the food and service was poor.
Fortunately the quality of the food and the service is terrific. I have had Indian food in Boston and Cambridge...

When this restaurant first opened, I went often and enjoyed it very much. Over the years though, the quality of the service has suffered and gone downhill. Yesterday, I went for an early supper, and two waiters were downright surly. The host had a scowl on. The gentleman who refilled my water glass was the only one around who approached...

We've only done take out here, but love it.
Food is ready super fast and portions are large. We eat ourselves silly the first night and have enough left over for the next evening.
We always try something new (I love the Chicken Tikka) and everybody shares. The little touch of cinnamon in the rice is aromatic & delicious. Have...

After trying several Indian restaurants in and around Boston, we always come back to Passage. If you're looking for a place to try Indian food, come here. If you already like Indian food, come here. There's something for everyone!
When you walk in the door, the smell wraps you up in a fragrant hug of deliciousness. The papadum is crispy...

Cozy dark atmosphere for above average Indian food with some excellent vegetarian choices. We stumbled upon this place on Washington Street while shopping. If you enjoy Indian food, definitely eat here as the prices and service are very good.
Worst service and food ever. I got chicken vindaloo, which is spicy. After eating this dish for many many times over the years, this was the first time it was inedible. No one in my table could eat it due to its exaggerated spicyness; keep in mind that we are spicy food lovers. the waiters never came back to our...

I love this restaurant! All of the food is delicious but the chicken Tika marsala is THE BEST. Service is always excellent and Joe who tends the bar on the weekends can mix anything you can wish for with a smile. If you like Indian food make a point to try this jewel of a restaurant.
The food was good and the service excellent. The prices seemed normal to a little high. 59$ for 3 people with no wine or beer.
Passage To India offers excellent Indian food in a comfortable setting in downtown Salem. Prices are fairly low; this restaurant is a good value. There was a broad array of vegetarian offerings, and we tried several. They were terrific. Service was good, not great. While Passage to India lacks parking, there are nearby municipal parking lots.
