Nice atmosphere, cool and hipster. Open kitchen design. Had no problem getting a table at 11 am on a Sunday. Mimosas and Bloody Mary were both great. Country scramble was very good. Potatoes are seasoned with cumin, adding an unusual twist. I enjoyed the salmon florentine although the hollandaise sauce was very heavy and plentiful. Might ask for it on... More

Went to this restaurant last night for my 42nd Anniversary. Been in business since 1935. Located in the fan, this place is small but has a lot of atmosphere. You can come for a drink and sit at the bar or enjoy a wonderful dinner. I would make reservations when you go just in case. They don't have that many... More

The building has been repurposed as an intimate dining space - fewer than 20 tables. The chefs prepare the food in an open area. We experienced amazing food; my cod on pureed cauliflower was very, very good. Vegetarian option was also outstanding. RSVPs are a good idea; wonderful ambiance.

I had my hopes high based on the reviews I read, but came away thinking the food was good, but not great. I had the Helen's burger with warm fries (no, they're not supposed to come that way) and my wife had the lemon Risotto ravioli. We both liked what we had, but waiting 55minutes to get it took something... More

Stopped by here for brunch on a Saturday with our 10 yr old. Menu had typical brunch items (omlettes, pancakes, French toast & Benedict's) but most had an interesting twist. We chose eggs with homemade corned beef hash, smoked salmon eggs Benedict and choc chip pancakes...all were awesome! Staff was super friendly & attentive. Chefs were right behind the bar... More

The ambiance was good and the kitchen open and next to the bar) smelled great, but we only stayed here for drinks. The drinks were a bit expensive - might come back for dinner sometime.

My husband & I tried this restaurant after reading a lot of great reviews first. When we were seated, I told our server, Julie, we had a Groupon. She cheerfully acknowledged this & thanked us for telling her. We were seated in a cozy booth and given menus and a wine list. One of the items that we had to... More

We visited Helen's with a Group On. It is a quaint place although very dark in the back. We had to ask for things a few times. Do NOT order the calamari unless you want to feel like it is still swimming on your plate. They did promptly take it back and remove it from our bill. The Caesar salad... More

Helen's is our go-to spot when we need a nice night out, I have lost track of how many times we've been. It pairs a cozy atmosphere with phenomenal dishes and a diverse, affordable wine selection. The shrimp and grits are the best in Richmond! After 10pm the pbr sales pick up and it can get busy, but that's just... More

I happened upon a groupon earlier in the year and was the best deal I have yet to find. Because I have now found one of most favorite restaraunts in Richmond. I have lived in Richmond for almost 20 years and did not know Helen's existed. I had their signature shrimp and grits if you are not a Southerner by... More
