Don't go by just the name and think this is only a BBQ restaurant. It's much more. The ribs and BBQ are great but my wife and I go primarily for the wonderful fried seafood. I have not had better fried shrimp anywhere. Lightly battered and fresh tasting with a special dipping sauce that is better than cocktail or tarter... More

A friend of mine has been recommending visiting the HogsHead for a few months now and finally, we got our schedules in-sync and went for dinner. The nice part was, my wife and another fellow colleague got to join as well for our Hog feast. The HH can be a bit tricky to find. My recommendation is to find the... More

Family owned. They would have bar b que parties at the house. More and more came. They were told to start a restaurant. So they did! Very friendly and want to please. My husband loved the deep fried large hot dog. I had pulled pork cooked to perfection. Little tight in the room with about 10-15 tables but worth the... More

Tried the HogsHead after reading a good review in the Richmond Times Dispatch. The cafe was even better than the review suggested; it was awesome! I don't think I've every had a "deep fried hotdog", but I'll try most anything once. It's hard to describe, but definitely now on my favorites list. Wrapped in bacon and covered with pulled pork... I ate here again for the third time in about six weeks. Each time I have ordered something different and each time I come away going..."darn, how do they make such simple food taste so awesome?". The kitchen has a way of combining flavors and adding taste that just works. Today I had the Shrimp and Roasted Corn chowder and... More

We went in for lunch and dinner on two separate occasions. Both times we enjoyed the pulled chicken BBQ. It was all breast meat well prepared, and plentiful. The dinner was conventional for a BBQ place, meat and sides. The lunch was a great green salad with blackened chicken, my wife thought it was a little spicy but I loved... More

The pulled pork was average at best - just as good at Red, Hot, and Blue. The potato salad was good, as was the Hog Dog, their speciality and the hush puppies. But the mac and cheese was spicy. Clearly not worth sitting on a waiting list. The atmosphere is awful, the service is not very good. I'd go elsewhere.

My husband & I finally made it to the HogsHead Cafe for their bacon-wrapped hot dog, the Hog Dog. We split the hot dog, with my husband having his half as stated-with the Pork, BBQ sauce & slaw. I just wanted the baon-wrapped, deep-fried hot dog, but with sauerkraut. After our server asked the chef, they did accommodate us. REALLY... More

This place is excellent. My wife and I split the Hog Dog (hot dog wrapped in bacon, topped with pulled pork and coleslaw). It is definately horrible for you, but amazingly delicious. Gotta try it. We also split the sampler of pulled pork and ribs. The ribs were very good, but the pulled pork was excellent. I lived in NC... More
