I was so happy when I learned that you can get breakfast food all day at Gwennies. They are the best with portions and taste. Can't wait to go again.

The chicken fried steak was recommended and I will forward the recommendation. Just good old fashioned comfort food.

I was surprised to see negative comments on this restaurant. It is very popular with the locals and there were a lot of people eating when we went. To me it is a very typical Alaskan diner. Lots of fun Alaskana on the walls, huge portions and casual wait staff. The food was good. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered and... More

It's been a while but the last time I visited (which is why it was the last time) I saw a mouse in the dining area (near the bridge). I couldn't even finish my breakfast. If they are comfortable coming out during the morning while it's busy, the mice must be very used to the activity(meaning they have been there... More

I visit Anchorage perhaps one or two times every seven years or so. The place is geared towards tourists but a lot of locals go here too. The food portions are very generous so it is unlikly you will be hungry any time soon. I had the salad (Okay), vegetables (Tasted a little old...like not fresh), french fries, and the... More

I have to say, go after mid September, you can breath. Eggs with crab Benedict will need to be shared with a hungry friend. Sure is is grungy, full of odd ball "antiques" and other stuff, but I have to say every once in a while just go and be a tourist and get those crabby eggs. Yumm, and lots... More

We recently visited Anchorage and had to try Gwennies after seeing it on a Rachel Ray travel show. Although previous reviews have not been that impressive, we gave it a try anyway. My partner had the Crab Imperial and raved about how delicious it was and the amount of crab that was on it. I had the steak & eggs... More
