Description: Umi Sake House is a unique Japanese cuisine restaurant in the Belltown area of Seattle featuring the highest quality seafood available in the Northwest, a large izakaya-style tapas menu, and boasting a sake list of over 60 imported Japanese bottles. The interior is multi-faceted, with a black slate tiled traditional dining room, a gorgeous 14 person capacity wooden sushi bar, a semi private "tatami" room which holds 12 people, a larger 25 person private dining room, an enclosed "back patio" casual dining room complete with tropical garden, a black concrete liquor bar with custom sake cocktails and fusion traditional cocktails, and a "front porch" casual dining area with a daily extended happy hour from 4-8pm. The variety of atmospheres allows for a different experience with every visit, and the vastness and quality of the menu does the same. For the budding sake enthusiast or the seasoned veteran, the sake menu at Umi is bottle for bottle the best found anywhere outside of Japan!

This place was recommended by 2 local individuals. Not sure why, as it was filthy, worn, dark and the food was horrible. There is a significant foul odor when you walk in the door. While we were tempted to walk back out, we decided to order a few items off the bar menu, due to the high recommendations. We ordered... More

The emphasis here is on hand made maki sushi and the chef has really gone to town with his creations which were not only unique but melded flavors superbly. The whole time we were there, the open kitchen chefs worked nonstop creating delicious looking sushi often dribbled with different sauces which heightened the taste sensation. Service was surprisingly attentive especially... More

There were so many special rolls to choose from, but we managed to pick 4 plus some calamari! Amazing taste and value. We also had a bottle of wine and our bill was just over $100. We also got to see them clean and it was reassuring as well.

The sushi was quite delicious. I believe we had the 007 roll and it has limes on it, which I wasn't sure about but was so tasty! Tried a couple of difference types of saki, which were a bit pricey and not amazing but they were our choices so perhaps that's our fault! The green tea ice cream was good... More

My mom and I went here during our Seattle vacation. We love Sushi and this place was great! The atmosphere was fun and hip and the rolls were very creative and tasty. We didn't have reservations but we ate pretty early. By the time we were leaving the place was very crowded.

Fab sushi and sashimi and reasonable happy hour prices. Would suggest going with friends so you can try more of the more adventurous sushi rolls. Tip: the seafood gyoza are to die for! Not cheap but good quality taste sensation!

My wife and I went out to Umi as we heard it was a great place & the recommendation was so true. There was a short lineup at the door (mostly locals - a good sign), but it quickly cleared and we got great seats at the sushi counter. I am a fan of quality sashimi & interesting presentation &... We only get to Seattle a couple times a year and always like to go to different restaurants. We tried Umi Sake and it was great! We ordered three rolls from the fresh sheet and a bowl of the lobster soup to share. The sushi rolls were excellent and the soup was incredible! We will be back!

The happy hour menu was large enough to offer good selection. The food was good, the prices good as it is happy hour, and the atmosphere busy and energetic. Good early dinner.

It's usually on the daily specials list but you can order it even it it's not. It's delicious. And it's just fun to say Body of Sin. White king salmon sashimi, also delicious. Try the grilled shishito peppers. Umi has traditional sushi/sashimi and a lot of very inventive rolls. The atmosphere is quite energized. Fantastic selection of sake and some... More
