We were fortunate to visit on a Monday evening when things were quieter, so there was no wait time and no frenzy. Irene's reminded us of a lovely restaurant we know in Tuscany - small, cozy, the usual assortment of knickknacks on the walls, and photos of famous diners. But the food and wines were top-notch. Would definitely return.

Irene's was a joy. We did a walk in at 8pm for a late dinner, and were enthusiastically greeted and engaged by maitre 'd (Michael?) during a short wait for a table. He even offered to bring us drinks while we sat (nice touch). Ambiance was great and the soft-shell crabs to die for. Prices reasonable, and this was my... More

My wife and I stopped at Irene's for dinner. We were sitting on the bench out front and were the first customers in at 5:30PM (by 6PM it was packed). We split an appetizer, Crab Gratin. I ordered Soft shell crab with parpadelle pasta in crawfish Burrell blanc sauce. My wife ordered the Cannelloni Al Forno (veal and pork cannelloni).... More

A place that will leave your mouth yearning for more. The staff was superb with great food while the atmosphere made you want to come back for more.

As with most of New Orleans, the best restaurants are the small "holes in the wall" eateries. Saw this place while on a carriage tour though the Quarter. It was a Sunday evening and they were closed, but you could smell the garlic! My wife and I made a note and went back the following evening. We were not disappointed!... More

This restaurant offered the best italian fare in the city and beyond. The wait is long so make sure to order a drink and have a seat in the back area while you wait. The seating was very nice and the appetizers were delish. The entrees were absolutely delectable and I only wanted more. I tasted my hubbys dish and... More

The hustle and bustle of this tiny place is wild! The cozy place is ususally busy and rightly so. The wonderful smells and clatter of dishes, silverware and hum of people enjoying a delicious dinner was very homey and inviting...the veteran waitstaff is spot on!

We didn't know what we were doing, and by the time we gathered our group of six, it was too late to make a reservation anywhere and we walked in at possibly the worst time to walk into a small and cramped restaurant without a reservation. We were quoted a wait of one hour and ended up waiting nearly two,... More

I have been to Irene's a number of times, but it had been a while...certainly pre-Katrina. The food was good, but not as good as I remembered it and I was somewhat embarrased that I had so highly recommended it as there was a piece of plastic in my drink and a bug in one of my colleagues. They more... More

I have been to Irene's many times and keep going back because it has never been a disappointment. The food is wonderful and when I bring guests they are always as pleased as I have been with the menu & service.
