This is one of those restaurants of which you do not know what to expect (at least I did not). Afghan food seems to be a blend of Maroccan, Indian, and other Afro-Asian blends, a delicious kitchen with fair wines. When it is crowded, service can be slow, though.

I ordered lamb rowland tonight and it was cooked with tomatoes, green peas and mushrooms. This dish came with basmati rice, boiled spinach and a green dip that tasted out of this world! A great Afghan restaurant. So delicious! All the dishes were great but the Kabuli is the top. HIghly recommended.

You just cant go wrong with Helmand. The owner is very friendly and the Afghan food is really prepared well. The vegetarian dishes like pumpkin and eggplant are really very tasty. The Afghan bread is perfectly cooked. My favorite is their Ice cream served with figs, dates..... sooooo tasty.

The food is delicous with numerous dishes to choose from Most of the food is lite with spices that are not over powering. The service is good.The location is convenient to the Inner Harbor of Baltimore and near the theater.

Went here on a Wednesday night about 9pm after graduation ceremonies at Johns Hopkins. Went with family and had the lamb special dinners. Food was tasty, spicy and served hot.
