We just can't get enough of these fish sandwiches. They are absolutely the BEST in town!
Found this on TA and glad we did. Stopped on our way to the Keys for dinner. The food was great and the service was just as good. The menu is small, but the specials were great. The coconut shrimp was unlike I've ever had before. You definitely need a GPS to find it as it is off the beaten... More
From the outside Chowder Ted's looks like a small little shanty perched next to the water. The number of local cars in a very crowded parking lot, was a great indicator to us that we were in store for a great meal! We had the half pot of chowder ($4.25) - it is rich and spicy and loaded with chunks... More
The Good: 1) food was tasty -oyster po' boy, blackened fish sandwich, onion rings; 2) very casual, relaxed, laid back atmosphere--- think: dive/fish camp/beat up tables & chairs; nautical themed decor; 3) mix of regulars and first timers-you can tell by the ones who sat down & said what they wanted & had it in 5-10 minutes vs. those asking... Chowder Ted's is every thing I thought it would be. Great, fresh seafood at reasonable prices sitting amongst locals. Yes, it's crowded and not at all fancy, but I had a great time. My oyster po boy was fresh and tasty as were all the other dishes I saw. Even the burgers looked really yummy. So, if you have a... More
We've been there twice, about 6 months apart. On our first visit, it was just my wife and I. On our second visit, we brought our daughter. Our waitress said, "oh, and you brought your daughter with you this time". How many restaurants would remember you if you'd only been there twice. Amazing. We started with the smoked fish dip... More
Ok, all the previous reiewers who gave this place an excellent rating have to admit that this place is a dump. Charm? I think not. I've tried Ted's NUMEROUS times, but this last time will be just that.....THE LAST TIME. They have a reputation for having great seafood that is tasty and fresh (although 90% of the menu is fried).... More
Ok. This was a disaster. It's not what you expect. Sticky tables. Wobbly tables. Dirty cutlery. One guy in kitchen frying everything!!! It's fine for a beer on the way home from the beach, but it's just not worth being ranked as one of the top ten in Jacksonville.
Only one person was disappointed: the person who ordered Coconut Shrimp. Coconut Shrimp could be found anywhere. Waitress was very friendly and helpful. She could have told us if we had asked. So, drop the menu, and talk it out.
Best place for a seafood meal!! Burgers are great too!! Ted's has what you want. I you like it southern cooked then you'll love Ted's!
