Large menu, friendly service, nice location. It seemed to be a local hot spot! Food was mediocre, the benedict was recommended.
The South Street Diner is a staple of the Head House District of Philly...but it is not as it once was. Our most recent visit was less acceptable. The service was fast and friendly, and we had a good window seat for people watching. But the food was not good (either not well cooked, and in some cases, burned, and... More

Went looking for a reasonable breakfast outside the hotel and found the South Street Diner, opened 24/7. Whatever you want for breakfast and a good price. Service isn't the best but you can overlook that with the food.
I stopped in there for lunch. The menu is pretty extensive. They have almost anything you could want. It was hard to decide. I got the chicken cordon bleu sandwich with fries. The sandwich was very good! The chicken pastina soup was delicious too! The prices are excellent. It is a very clean restaurant and our server was attentive. It... More

Bloody Mary's were the most vile tasting I have ever had.. Service was abrupt and there was no smiles from the waitress. Free wifi is the only good thing about this place. I would not recommend it at all
Good typical diner menu. The burgers were good, fries I could leave and did for the most part. Slaw was good. Coffee was very good. I would do it again, as an after-midnight option when there aren't many otherwise.
Really enjoyed breakfast here. I had banana French toast and it was really good! The Bloody Mary was a bit too spicy, but the mimosas were just right!
We now visit South Street Diner most frequently for breakfasts on the weekends, and the service is always friendly and quick. The food is reliably good; everyone's selections were all to their liking as usual. Never disappointing.
