SMALL portions. However, great pickles and AMAZING mustard. We took a huge takeaway container of mustard home. Maybe the best mustard ever? While the food was meh, the mustard, oh man the mustard.

They reopended after being closed by the NYC Board of Health for many violation in September. During Thanksgiving week, a 4 alarm fire destroyed Sarge's. It is currently boarded up. Will it reopen--unknown at this point.

A friend posted his corned beef sandwich on Facebook so we had to go check it out during our trip. What a great place. The service is great, the food is plentiful (schedule a long walk after) and it was delicious. Living in SF, I miss deli food and between the pickles, coleslaw, potato salad and the actual lunch special,... More

Sarge's Delicatessen may not be as well known as its famous brethren but it is a very enjoyable New York deli experience. The menu is vast, the portions very ample and the atmosphere is, well, "deli". Being located on Third Avenue allows for a less hectic experience and the staff is friendly and prompt. On a recent trip to NYC,... More

Great lox on a bagel with cream cheese. Side if sausage ordered was decent - little over done. Also wish the OJ was slightly better. Byt overall it's kinda a dive so I like that aspect. I'd go back for a lazy weekend breakfast or lunch.

This is one of the classic NY deli's with outstanding food and a hugh menu. I think I've seen an actor I knew every other visit. Sunday brunch is a must and the red velvet cake is worth taking a piece to go.

Sarge's deli sandwiches are --- across the board-- made from the highest quality meats I have ever eaten in NYC, or anywhere for that matter. Silky, flavorful corned beef, moist home made pastrami, prime cut roast beef. Everything else is top notch, from the homemade coleslaw, all of the soups, including a mean matzoh ball. In short, you can't go... More

Open 24 hours. Full traditional deli menu and broad selection of desserts. I recommend the brisket. They deliver quickly to nearby hotels. It's a comfortable place, with nice booths, to relax and have a long conversation without spending a fortune and without being rushed. I've been going there for 18 years. I think it may have changed ownership once, but... More
