At first glance it's a classic Italian place with all the usuals on the menu, a decent wine list and attentive service. As the night moves on suddenly the music is turned up and people were dancing amongst the tables led by a woman from the Restuarant. Don't go here if you want a quiet chat with someone as its... You would think an Italian restaurant in NYC would offer great pasta in a pleasant setting where diners could converse and enjoy the experience. Not in Baraonda. Unless you like tomato sauce that has more salt than a can of Campells Soup and disco music loud enough to drown out the Three Tenors find another place to dine.

I've visited Baraonda a few times in the past two months and the food was consistently fresh and well prepared. I would say the main attraction for me was the decor, the paintings on the walls are reminiscent of a different era and place, not necessarily Italian. The place is rather small and can get crowded or noisy, so I... More

We went on Valentine's day. We got there just before it got really busy. Despite the frenzy, the staff remained friendly, courteous, and attentive. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. For appetizers, we had the grilled octopus and the scallops. Both servings were just the right size and were delectable. I was pleased... More

I have been to this restaurant for dinner several times. The food is reliable deliciousness and the wait staff is warm and pleasant. My girlfriend invited me on a Sunday night and it was packed. We were standing against the bar and people were passing back and forth constantly. I felt someone grope my buttocks! I turned around with urgency... More

Found this gem on OpenTable and sat outside to people watch as we ate. It was a great little spot. Our food was perfectly garlickly and very Italian. The staff and regular patrons were very friendly. We sat under heaters, and were chilly at times, but it was such a treat to be outside that we didn't mind. Great Italian... More

Very good service, they replaced our bread three times, just 10 sec after finishing each portion ! One kid dropped a glass and they came very quickly with a smile and tidied up everything in a moment. We ordered gnocchis with white truffa and they were exceptional, very good home-made dish. For dessert we had tiramisú, very reccomendable. The only... More
