Coming from Tucson, it's hard to know good sushi. I'd like to think I've had the best San Diego has to offer, because I can't imagine it getting better! Located right across the street from the Holiday Inn Express, it was just a quick walk away. Thankfully, we'd called ahead, because the place is tiny and probably always packed. Hostess... More

This is a hole in the wall place that does not appreciate its customers. The servers were rude and we had to wait almost two hours for a seat. The food is not worth the drama. They need better management.

My husband and I showed up to Sushi Ota straight from the airport in the middle of the lunch rush with no reservation. They didn't have any tables available but we were able to sit at the sushi bar immediately. The sushi chefs were a joy to watch while they worked and were very sweet and interactive. My husband got... More

I eat a lot of sushi and sashimi. Being on the west coast, I also get a lot of really fresh fish - wild salmon, tuna. But typically, most of the other raw fish is just okay. I would say that Ota is one of the top 10 sushi experiences I've had. All the fish was exceptional - including the... More

Ok, I have never eaten at this restaurant, so I can't comment on its sushi. But I called to get a reservation two days in a row and they said that they didn't have anything until 9pm or 10pm. Then I asked if we showed up early at like 5pm could we get a table? They said "no, we are... More

I was very unhappy. The rolls were small and not that tasty. Yummy Sushi in Coronado was much much better.

so sorry but this sushi was so average that we only ate half of it. My husband who is a huge sushi fan really disliked it. Maybe it's just us....

After dining here I realised I never really had sushi before. Unassuming place, but great atmosphere with very friendly waitresses. Had a place at the bar so I could see the sushi chefs at work. I ordered the $44 OTA Sashimi platter including melt in your mouth tuna belly, the still alive tiger shrimp (depending on your definitions of life... More

We went there at lunch time and were happy to get a table. Interior seems to be renovated. It is nice now. My wife went for non-sushi and I had one of their combos. We both liked what we had. The only downside was that I had stomach problems after that. I experienced it after Sushi in Japan as well... More
