This busy place is clearly popular amongst the locals. There were some highlights in the menu imbibed within a hint of mediocrity, which is to be expected for a chain restaurant. The hamachi sashimi starter was excellent, if somewhat overpriced. Lobster potstickers worked very well, while the Roy's canoe for 2 was standard and somewhat unimaginative. My main gripe is... More

We love the Roy's chain. We always make an effort to eat there when we travel. Tonight's meal was uneven with forgetful service. After we had waited an unusually long time, watching all the surrounding tables get served, we watched our meal fly by and get served to another table. After the group started eating the fish, they realized it... More

Neat looking spot in the heart of the financial district. We had a great server who had no problem offering our party of 10 good, prompt service & gave us several good suggestions for wine, dinner choices & appetizers. Nice setting and the tables are spaced out so you are not dining with the next table. Overall, a very nice... More

I know it isn't cool to praise a high end chain restaurant, especially in ultra hip San Francisco, but I can't help myself. This is the third time we have been to a Roy's restaurant and it always delivers. Although Roy's isn't cheap (most entrees are between $25 and $35), the food is outstanding. I have yet to find a... The food here is just delicious! The prices are not unreasonable for amazing seafood dishes. Even the appetizers are great!

The other half needed cheering up so off we went to Roy's. Who doesn't like high-end Hawaiian food? In a beautiful setting we started off by sharing a seared ahi tuna caesar salad - excellent. The other half had a fish trio entree of mahi-mahi, salmon, and black cod. I had the appetizer "canoe" with two (small) pieces each of... More

Roy's is a chain that satisfies the business lunch. The food is flavorful but very slow to arrive. Also, food did not arrive at same time with delays, the staff did apologize. For a moderate priced restaurant, the power lunch prix fix works great at $32 per. So affordable, for business, I'd say yes but the food while nice, did... More

Having eaten at many Roy's, I'll eventually learn not to trust those outside of Hawaii. They just aren't the same. The menus are somewhat different, legitimately due to differences in the availability of fresh ingredients, but the local menus don't seem adjusted to take advantage of what's available in California. The execution just isn't there, and when coupled with high... More
