Poor Boys Gourmet came highly recommended and my partner and I had been looking forward to using our visit to Bar Harbour to sample our first taste of Maine lobster. What a disappointment! I had the signature dish, Lobster Poor Boy, cooked in a cream sherry sauce on farfalle pasta. The lobster was seriously over-cooked and under-represented (4 small pieces... More

Ate in Poor Boys, based on various recommendations, on a Sunday evening at the start of the season. My partner ordered the signature Poor Boys lobster dish - lobster in a cream sherry sauce on farfalle; I went for lobster Fra Diavoli - lobster in a spicy tomato sauce on linguine. Having heard so much about Maine lobster we were... More

We had a tremendous dining experience at Poor Boys in Bar Harbor Maine. We started with the meatball sliders, a newly added menu item our server informed us, they dined on fresh local sea scallops in alfredo. My wife truely enjoyed the lobster fra diablo, and the portion size was overwelming. We were able to sample the white chocolate blueberry cheesecake and... More

We ate there two nights in a row! I had lobster both nights. My husband had the crab cakes one night and Brandino Lobster the second night. This location is pet friendly also on the outside eating area. Dessert: German Chocolate Cake! To die for...

After checking the "market" price for a whole lobster ($30+ I recall) we shared a lobster saute on bread crumbs. It was good but sparing and my partner left two pieces (how could she?) because they were tough. Really, too little lobster to be dealing with tough meat. I love lobster and $20+ usually gets the job done. I think... More

I have heard by many that this is the place to go in Bar Harbor, so I decided to try it out. The crab claws were anything but edible as you couldn't even get it out of the shell. My eggplant parmigiana had severely under-cooked pasta and about three pounds of mozzarella and I ended up eating only about a... More

We went to Bar harbor with guests and tried Poor Boy's. On the way in we asked a departing person, "What's good?" He steered us to the Blueberry Margaritas and Haddock Scampi. It was the best meal we had all vacation! Did I mention that the Blueberry Margaritas were great????

We ate a late night dinner. The owner visited our table and made us feel very welcome. The food was excellent and freshly prepared. I had the Scallop Scampi which was very delicious, my husband had a chicken dish and my son ate the Pasta Alfredo. Our seats were on the veranda and the atmosphere was very relaxing! Highly recommend!

We come here every year. The food is excellent and we especially like the early bird specials. My son's favorite is the Shrimp Fra Diavolo; it's not too spicy. I like everything!
