We ate here twice during our four day stay in January 2013. The first time was a friday night. The place is pretty informal. If you want alcohol you have to purchase them from the market across the street and sit outside on the picnic benches. They had live music, uke and guitar, pretty good and had a local vibe.We... We had fish at the Cookhouse and were disappointed to find it over-cooked. To their credit, they took back the plate and tried again with somewhat better results. We still liked the casual ambience of the place and its obvious attraction to tourists and locals alike. But it is getting pricey and did not seem like the gem it was... More

After reading all the reviews of places to dine on Molokai prior to our trip, The Cookhouse was high on our list. Perhaps because we ordered one of the lunch specials, the Kalbi ribs came quite quickly. There was enough on the plate for lunch for two adults. The macaroni salad, something I usually don't order, was well prepared. Prices... More

You can BYOB here - There was a local live music trio w/Hawaiian music when we were there which we enjoyed. The food was tasty & waitress friendly. Dinner prices range $15-25.

Ate at the Cookhouse for lunch on a worktrip. Sat on one of the outdoor picnic tables, and despite the mid-day time, ordered corned beef hash, eggs, and home fries (in place of my Hawaii-standard rice). Truly some of the best corned beef hash that I've ever had, and that is saying quite a bit, as I order it frequently.... More

Having said that, please remember that on this island?????? "Best" is a term used with some caution, and heres why: 1. First off....the portions on the plate meals are huge and worthy of two meals.....dinners (which are NOT the plate meals) are only served Tuesday evenings through Saturdays, and the menu has something for everyone, but is a bit limited... I have read many reviews and also recommended by locals to go there for dinner, we decided to go for lunch instead on our way to the museum. When I get there, I found a take away looking set up with 1-2 tables inside, and a few large table outdoors. We ordered 2 fish (mahi) burgers and the Cobb salad.... More

Highly recommended by locals. We had our last meal on Molokai here. The roast pork and gravy was very tender and moist. It did have some fat, which my wife will not eat but I really enjoyed. I had a combo plate with mahi mahi ( a little dry) and lemon chicken (tasty). Very popular place with tourist and locals.... More

this place is delicious! You wouldn't think that a place with a few picnic tables or modest indoor setting would have plate options in the $25-35 range but man do they deliver! The food at that level is top notch and I totally recommend any of the fish items! Don't expect much in the way of decor, especially the bathrooms,... More
