The food is more or less average and definitely overpriced. But the atmosphere on the beach is great and the staff very friendly and helpful.

We have eaten at Portofino several times over the last three years. Each time it seems the restaurant has gone down hill. The earlier times we had stayed at the Marriott so it was easy to get to the Portofino. This time we stayed elsewhere but wanted to have dinner at the Portofino. We had to use the main hotel...

Like other reviewers have said, the location is great. Other than that, there are few redeeming qualities. The good- view, harp music, chocolate mousse (spelled 'mouse' on the menu). The bad- the lasagna was so hot it had to have been microwaved. It was also so soggy that it must have been a frozen, store bought brand. The bread also...

We have never had a bad meal here in 20 years. We like the outdoor seating, the harpist and the food.
For the price of the food, this place is definitely not worth it. The service and view was great, but the food was sub par. When we received our meal within 5 minutes, we were instantly skeptical. The lasagna looked like slop and tasted like freezer brand Stoffers. For $20 I could have bought two whole pans of this. The...

My husband got the fetteccine alfredo and it was undercooked so he sent it back and got a not so great salad. I got fish that I enjoyed but for $35 it was a waist because the meal really isn't filling for that much. servers were nice but this is by far not a romantic restaurant. The only plus was...

We were staying at the Marriott and had dinner at this restaurant one night. Portofino is OK but I have had better Italian food at the Olive Garden. It is beachfront to beautiful Kalapaki beach, ambience and live music are also nice. My wife ordered the Scampi al Limone and it was undercooked and not very tasty, I ordered the...

The only thing I regret about this restaurant is not stopping in earlier on our trip to Kauai. We waited until the last night, and were not disappointed. One of the entrees, the Ono, was prepared in a piccata sauce. Delicious. Great, warm, crusty bread as well. The killer was the manila clams in a red sauce. I am not...

So my wife and I have been on the island for almost 2 weeks. We have stayed all over the island from Hanalei to Poipu to Waimea in the two times we have visited. We are from NY and like good food. While the food at cafe portofino was above par and the best Italian food on the island the...

The view is great, and the live harp music is very nice, but other than that, I was a little disappointed. I was here two years ago, and I remember the food being better. Everything we ordered was just okay. Considering it was our most expensive meal on this vacation, I would have expected better.
