The owner is hilarious and worth the trip here alone! Breakfast is served on paper plates. Very affordable, food is average, but the entertainment value is priceless!

All you "inmates" staying at the Waikoloa Beach prison complex (all the hotels and condos) time to escape from the WAY over priced food that ain't very good and head 3-4 miles up the hill to Dave's, just south of Waikoloa VILLAGE.
On the mainland the breakfast VALUE here would be great, but on an island in Hawaii, the prices...

We live on island and after reading the many glowing reviews we decided to try this place. Waikoloa in general is hardly known as a hotbed for fine or even very good dining. Nevertheless we had high hopes when we set out to investigate our "new find" Upon arrival the junk outside the kitchen and the child's ancient abandoned hotwheel...

Stopped by this place 3 times during our stay in the big island. Great food and coffee and the owner is oh so friendly and warm :). We had the katsu moco, hash, spam sandwich and everything was so delicious ! I will definitely go back next time I am in hawaii!
Good food, great price and friendly staff. Try their local food. Breakfast with rice? Try it, it is great!!! They are open Mon-Sat. We stood in their parking lot Sunday with sad faces. We did eat breakfast there four days of the seven. We always try to find Local spots to dine and Dave's Plate is a must.
We set out from Kona to find the ultimate Hawaiian lunch and we found it at Dave's Plate. In this unassuming building, we found the most delicious pulled pork sandwich we ate while on the island. The sandwich was fabulous, but what really sent us over the top was their pineapple muffins. Oh my goodness...pure heaven! The staff was delightful...

Staff very friendly, delicious moco loco and pancakes with Portuguese sausage, huge portions, very reasonable price... was an extremely pleasant change from the resort fare we had been having for last few days
We read the reviews on TripAdvisor -- thanks! We would never have found and tried this place otherwise. It looks fairly seedy from the parking lot and not much better inside, although everyone you encounter is so friendly! Because of the reviews, my husband tried the Loca Moto. I can't ever pass up homemade corned beef hash!
Both were great....

I read about Dave's plate on trip advisor my trusted source for local ideas while travelling. It's exactly as it was described. Down home Hawaiian local breakfast and. Lunches. Big portions, unique options on menu and the best value. A short drive from the waikaloa area hotels up into the hills of waikaloa. The place is very understated and looks...

We found this place to be warm and welcoming! The $5 breakfast special can't be beat, and Malcom, the owner, was so friendly! He showed us a map and drew on it places we should find. So, we did! He was super, even sitting down with us for a few minutes to chat. We came back to say thanks and...
