My 'local' when I am fortunate enough to be in magical Mijas Pueblo. Situated in the heart of the old town it has genuine Spanish ambience to the extent that it has encouraged me to learn more Spanish in order to get deeper into their relaxed and friendly lifestyle! Don't take this as discouragement though, if you do not speak... More

Authentic Tapas, rustic and very well prepared on the fly. It is more of a bar than a restaurant. Inside only.

Had a few drinks and some Tapas in here, nice bar full of locals, 2 mins from the centre of village. Good service too.

You just have to try it. So Spanish, great to try out your language skills but happy to communicate by rubbsh hand signals too. Food yummy, especially paella (order in advance) and patatas bravas but always save some for me cos it is the highlight f my year!

This is one of the thre real Spanish bars at the West end of town and is far cheaper and more authentic than anything you find in the town centre. It is under new ownership and the owner is trying hard to please. Food and drink nice and cheap. Food quality OK but only ate Tapas.

Please take the time to seek out Bar El Refugio on your visit to the village - go past the 'square' with its surround of typical tourist restaurants & you will be rewarded with the most simple, enjoyable, fun places you could want - El Refugio is one of them. I won't deny that me speaking Spanish helped as this... More
