Just about 15-20 minutes from Stowe, this fantastic little restaurant on the brink of a rushing stream with cascade has superb farm fresh food and fresh caught items from the sea. Eclectic and reasonably priced wine list, friendly & experienced service and quiet adult crowd all make for a wonderful dining experience. Space is limited and they are not open... More

So close to Stowe yet tucked away in Waterbury, what a wonderful experience. Warm, cozy, very unique setting. The food was absolutely superb, hanger steak, octopus, rabbit, oysters. The menu is eclectic, and excellently prepared and presented. Price range is higher end worth it. Special selections of beer and wine as well. We will go back soon!

The food was delicious! The duck sausage with creamy and a sunny-side-up farm egg was so rich i.e. sooo good! The room is beautiful: dark, with exposed stone, lots of wood, and right next to a little waterfall... We will definitely be back!

So I've been skiing around Stowe and trying different restaurants there and then I got bored and decided to ski outside the area like Sugarbush and as a result I passed by Waterbury, a small charming town, and I thought, why not try the restaurants there? That proved to be one of the best decisions I ever made as I... More

One of the best dining experiences we have had. Beautiful ambience, wait staff was excellent ....and food was fantastic. Lots of local sourcing, creative dishes and all perfectly prepared.

Everytime I eat at Hen Of The Woods the food is amazing! Eric is a very talented Chef! The menu changes regularly and they feature local ingredients. I started with a Quail liver pate and my Husband had a grilled octopus appetizer. We both enjoyed a our main meal (Haddock and my husband had Chicken). There is a good selection... More

We were staying in Stowe and made a reservation before our trip to ensure that we could eat here one of our five nights. I had been in the building, years ago, when a different establishment occupied it. It still has a nice cozy atmosphere, with just the right amount of lighting. The menu changes regularly and they feature local... More

Visited Stowe area for 4 days skiing with friends who like fine wine/food and they made prior dinner reservations for each night. We went to Michaels, Fireside and Ye Olde England Inn. This was by far #1, Fieside and Ye Olde #2 and Michaels #4. The service was friendly but informed, prices were reasonable, food was excellent and we did... More

What an amazing experience. From the atmosphere, to the presentation to the food itself, everything was top notch. As a NJ transplant to VT, I thought one of the things I would have to give up was easy access to amazing restaurants, but luckily Hen of the Wood proved me wrong! I really was astounded by the creativity shown in... More

The ambiance (including open kitchen), service and food were all exceptional. Ate with a group of people and tried nearly all items.....exceptional across the board.
