Basically everything was good except it is the same décor that was there in the 1970s when I first ate there. Definitely needs a facelift.
Took a customer there for lunch and was not disappointed. Service was excellent, food served promptly, quality and quantity was exceptional and at reasonable prices. Would not hesitate to make my way there again. My baked scallops were perfect. At dinnertime they serve a relish tray comprised of a great cheese spread with garlic croutons, corn relish and pickled okra.... More
I began visiting this restaurant in 1954. It was always EXCELLENT for food and service until the passing of the founder, Johnny Cace. Service and food is very poor. We waited to be seated for some six minutes. The hostess/cashier was "busy" chatting. The restaurant was only 1/2 filled but we waited some 15 mins. for the waiter to take... More
This is the greatest place for a special event! Delicious shrimp in shorts, yummy appetizers and perfectly strong drinks. Loved how the way the waitstaff made our wedding anniversary special with song and dessert and wellwishes. We felt like family. The food is to die for. Probably the best in the county based on my 40 years of visits to... More
We went here for lunch today and it smelled weird and when I asked for a straw the waitress conpletely ignoeed me and came back 5 minutes later and threw them on the table. The portions were small and the food was not worth going back for especially because the green beans were cold and the bread burnt.
My honey and I went there for our 51 anniversary and it was liking stepping back in time, it's one of the first restaurants we every went to, it's old and outdated but that is what makes it special, it looks just like it did back in the day when it opened in the early 60's. The food is outstanding,... More
We have stuck with Johnny Cace's through their ups & downs since 1985. When Mr. Cace Sr passed, the restaurant went way down. Then, it picked up. When Gerard Cace passed, it went down again. It seems to be on it's way back up again. When restaurant was "down", food and service were not great. When it's back "up", food... More
This was our first time to eat at Johnny Cace's and we will go back whenever we are in the area again. We started with oysters on the half shell and charbroiled oysters. They were some of the freshest & largest oysters we had ever eaten! Absolutely delicious. The relish tray that they serve with all their entrees was very... More
My family has always made dinner at Johnny Cace's a priority when visiting Longview area. We were extremely disappointed to find the restaurant almost empty on a Sat. night on a holiday weekend. The wait service and management were less than attentive. Our server expressed annoyance at being assigned another table (her fourth!) and asked management to assign another server.... More
The food was ok, we eat Cajun every time we are in texas, we will drive 60 miles out of the way to go to Al-T's in Winnee (east of Houston). It is much better than the chains--papaduex, saltgrass. This establishment is approxiamately as good as Dudley's in Longview, Dudley's is a much better price though. Dudley's is not an... More
